They look like normal White people to me... no offense to anyone. Their skin is pale, etc. The Aborigines in Canada look like Native Americans... so do the Aborigines in South & Central America, and the Caribbean. So, what gives?

If they are so mixed, why are they so picky when it comes to registering? The Natives in South/Central America and Caribbean don't do that.

Not only do a lot of Native Americans have white in them, but a lot of whites have Native American in us after a few generations. I'm supposed to be Irish, Scottish, and German, but guess what? I've never met an Irish, Scottish, or German born person who tans like I do!
A lot of the motivation for Americans is economical. Members of a tribe can share in casino profits, scholarships, etc. So sometimes a rivalry springs up and people who really belong get kicked out, and others get picky about membership. Money brings out the mean in all kinds of people!

The Native Americans who look white are either part Caucasian or naturally light in texture(meaning they can pass off as white people). Most Native Americans actually have a darker complexion than Caucasians but a lighter complexion than most African Americans. They are sometimes called 'Red Skins' (disrespectfully) but actually have "light brown" skin.
Most Native Americans honestly don't look white. Usually genetics play a role in that.
P.S.- This may be besides the point, but it's starting to bother me, now (what bothers me most is that all of this is real). Adding on to what Jayelle said, I heard about an article stating that in some (or most, I dunno) nationally registered tribes, the councils are now declaring that part-Native/ part-Black Americans are not Native American at all. It could be stemming from greed over money, but it could also be stemming from racism, too. But, in my opinion, being that we are all Native American in SOME way, there should be no reason to kick officially registered members out, especially over money or difference in mixed race.

A person who is registered as a member of a Native/American tribe is sometimes entitled to monies set aside by the gov't , if that person can prove he/she has a certain percentage of Native/American blood or ancestry.

I'm part Native American, and I look white because my heritage is mostly European. I've met plenty of U. S. Native Americans who fit the "typical" image.
