The issues of the Ozone Layer and Acid Rain? I was just answering a question and thought abou that.. Did we fix those problems because I never hear those issues being addressed anymore.
I was just saying on the last question I answered how terrified I was a young child thinking that Acid Rain would melt my skin away and kill me...
And I would go outside and look up at the sky and wonder where the hole in the ozone was, and if it were over me would I just Desinagrate? LOL!
Now I just wonder why no one ever asks about it or reports about it on the news.. Is it all better now, or getting better? Did we fix those problems?

Hey as long as they are being fixed, that's cool!!! I was just curious why we never hear of them.. And if we have taken the right steps to fix them, why don't they report it on the news to show us that we actually made a difference, instead of moving on to the next negative issue.

Be careful Honeybee, not only are you showing your age, but you've opened yourself to the hard core liberal hate mongers. It was believed (before Global Warming first gained popularity in the 70s, that we were headed for another ice age. The same folks who hawked Global Warming then, also fortold that the world had run out of oil and that within 10 years, there just wouldn't be any... That was around the same time that OPEC slammed us with an oil embargo because President Carter backed (publically) Israel. What it REALLY is, is a side show. A distraction. A cause celeb. Keep your eye on Al, he's a sly old fox.

Ozone depletion and global warming are separate problems, though some agents contribute to both. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are the principle cause of ozone deletion, but they also happen to be potent heat-trapping gases. Still, CFCs are responsible for less than 10 percent of total atmospheric warming, far less than the 63 percent contribution of carbon dioxide. Thus, attention paid to CFCs has been on their ozone depletion role. This will change as CFCs are phased out and replaced by hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs such as R-134a). These chemicals have little or no effect on the ozone layer but are strong heat-trapping gases. As their concentration in the atmosphere is already rising, the likely net effect in the future is that reductions in the CFC-related contribution to global warming will be offset by the presence of HCFCs and HFCs.

Think the ozone hole better now, wasn't elimination of CFC's and freon the cure? Acid rain still problem, blamed for tree die-off in Germany's black forests. Priolosec and tums factories should be running 3 shifts.
Starting to hear about big piles of money to be awarded for who ever invents machinery for sequester co2 from atmosphere.

Read once in a wahile. You might learn something.
Acid Rain has destroyed millions of acres of forest in the Northeast and in Canada.Since the 70's,reductions in emissions that contibuted to the problem,it has been virtually eradicated.
Ozone Layer depletion has been stabilized by the almost complete eradication of CFC's.But you could hitch a ride to Antarctica, stand outside for a bit in places without protection, and if you didn't freeze to death, you'd be assured of skin cancer within a few years.
Both of these climatic dangers were stabilized by the proper use of technology.
Edit-If we fix one problem,we shouild ignore the next because of the good news?

You'd be on the set of coronation highway! In concept i think if no longer something ever happend, there might have been no great Bang which might mean that situations for existence does no longer have been created!! In physics isn't there a regulation that states each action HAS AN equivalent AND OPPOSITTE reaction?? as a result if there replaced into no preliminary action, evoloution does no longer exist.... Cool! Existential questions:)

The Ozone layer re established itself after we cut CFC emissions, and acid rain still happens but far less than it could have due to industrial pollution - again thanks to cutting the right kinds of emissions.

The hole is in your head.
