Actually, the translated term "virgin" in the ancient texts literally means an "unwed woman"; not a woman who has never had sex. So based on the literal translation of the story of Mary, you can say that she had sex with Joseph and became pregnant. Not being married and knowing she would be stoned for having pre-marital sex, she made up the whole immaculate conception thing to save her hide.

One disciple's tale told of virgin birth . . . this was told to folk who knew of other gods born in miraculous fashion. That disciple did *not* write of "the house and lineage of David".

A different disciple's tale emphacised the lineage from David to Joseph to Jesus.

So there's only a problem if you try to combine the two stories.

If you back earlier, there are two versions of the order of Creation, relative to Man, Woman & animals.

It's an exercise of Faith to simultaniously believe 2 or more contradicting things. Charles Dodgson said so.

She conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit, never having sex. She did not have Jesus because of Joseph at all. One day mary was visited by an angel and told she would give birth to the savior, and he would be conceived by the Holy Spirit. She didnt do it with the Holy Spirit..its more of a miracle type thing.

What bothers me is that though Mary was a virgin, she was not of the line of David. Lines are through the mother in the Hebrew tribe, and only a Jewish mother births a Born Jew. Joseph is of the line of David, but he is not the birth father of Jesus.

Part of the prophesy of a messiah calls for a baby of the line of David.

Oh yes, I checked and a Baby can be adopted, but, cannot be become a part of the mans ancestry line.

The Creator is more powerful and capable of getting done any thing He wished. Adam born without father & mother; Eve without mother and Jesus without father.

Believe it or not a virgin can conceive. You dont have your hymen broken to become pregnant. After you give birth it will break your hymen of course and she was only supposed to be a virgin until she gave birth.

She didn't conceive. God created Jesus within her womb. Not in the conventional way. God chose a known virgin so there would be no doubt that it was Jesus.
