We use pH to express the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. So this means... hydrogen is much involved in this process.

We consider a solution:
a.) an acid - if the pH is less than 7
b.) an alkaline/basic - if the pH is more than 7

a substance that has a pH of 7 is nuetral because it is the pH of PURE WATER at 25 °C.

Here are the indicator colour of the solutions you have given:
a) drain cleaner pH 14 - black
b) stomach acid pH 2 - red to red orange
c) shampoo pH 6 - yellow to yellow green
d) tomato juice pH 4.5 - yellow

colour of litmus paper
a.) red litmus paper turns blue - basic (above pH 8.3)
b.) blue litmus paper turns red - acidic (below pH 4.5)

colour of Phenolphthalein
a) pH < 0 - strongly acidic - orange
b) pH 0-8.2 - acidic - colorless
c) pH 8.2-10.0 - alkaline - pink
d) pH > 10.0 - strongly alkaline - reddish purple

pH is a means to determine how acidic or alkaline solutions are.

The pH scale goes from zero (0) to fourteen (14).
Solutions testing below 7 are acidic. The lower the number- the more acidic it is. (These solutions contain an acid.)
Solutions testing above 7 are alkaline. The higher the number - the more alkaline it is. (These solutions contain a base.)
Solutions testing 7 are neutral.

Look in your text for the pH range for which each indicator's color changes and the color for the lower and higher pH ends. Then you can rate the color of each product. The drain cleaner should rate highly basic for each indicator, the stomach acid, highly acidic for each indicator. The others may show basic for one and acidic for the other.
