I don’t think that the Supreme Court would get involved... If anything it would be a federal prosecutor and they most likely wouldn’t give you a heads up until the showed up at your door with a subpoena or an arrest warrant.

Like the rest I doubt that the Supreme court logged your IP address. Maybe the FBI or something maybe but most likely the MPAA or the RIAA or some other If they were smart they would log not only your IP address but your MAC address. They would also log who your ISP was and track it to where it was geographical. Then they would probably get your ISP to turn over the info about what customer matches these and many more bits of gathered material.

That's if you were doing something really bad, but downloading roms I doubt that anyone is going to pull your hair over that.

you need lawyer, a good one, For you information I will give you a short education on this problem. If you burned Cd's with it it will have copies the CD or DVD lot number it will embed the ip address the computer name the serial # of the chip the motherboard, the ROM build date all software license #'s and number of copies made of each disk, where upon it is installed on another computer it WIll in turn record those IP address's so be ready to be screwed big time,it is a VERY large fine, some are $250,000.00 to $500,000.00 for an offense for damages plus 5 years in prison.

I'm sure that not only the Supreme Court is on to you, but also aliens, bigfoot, and the loch ness monster.

Don't you feel foolish for having been taken in by such an obvious prank?
The law doesn't bother with end users -just the site operators.

I doubt they have logged your IP. If it gave you that message when you went to the site, they're just trying to scare you since going to the site is not illegal. Only downloading the ROMs is illegal.

Wait, are you downloading Nintendo "roms" or Video Games "roms"? That message doesn't mean anything. It just the 24 hours false alarm because nothing happens to you or computer.

What kind of "rom" are did you download?

Really the best answer is to throw yourself on the mercy of the court. Go outside your house and strip down to your underwear to save time for your new prison 'friends' and wait for the police to show up.

Ummmm. I don't think the Supreme Court really gets involved in things like this.

they usually only go after the uploaders..

however they might come after you for "having possession of copyrighted materials illegally".

although if you delete it (all traces of it etc..not just stick in the recycle bin and "empty trash) but truly delete all aspects of the 1's and 0s that made up those files..then they'd have trouble proving you still "possess" said materials, and would only show that you accessed the material etc..

possession is the illegal part...but..I'm not a lawyer..IF you hear a Knock on your door, then go consult a lawyer..
