Eh? Why?

I have a personal religion that I pieced together from different belief systems and my personal beliefs and I think that personal religion is best and always will be.

But why do people feel they have to follow other's religion?

Why are people so sheep-like and can't think for themselves?

Why is humanity the way it is?

Answer one or all of them. Please?

People are sheep like because we live in constant fear. Fear of danger in this life, and fear or going to "hell" in the next life.

Religion has made natural human nature sinful(on purpose i might add). Therefore we are constantly fearing our nature and live in misery. When living in fear, people are MUCH easier to control.

People feel they have to follow other people's religion because they were trained into thinking that way when they were younger.

Some personal religion you must have that not even the simplest of discomforts such as the questions that clearly indicate that you are still into playing games that put others at a subjective stance defending some idea or other as if they are not ok but you are. Now, lets place this closer to home by asking you the same things but worded in such a way so as to answer objectively. What makes you think people are so sheep-like and are incapable of thinking for themselves. Dont you encounter this a bit strange when in reality each and every human must as an individual make a choice and that some behave this way by choosing to follow others and their beliefs because in some way they are convinced that for their humanity that is the best path to take,
It is a good thing to have a personal religion. All of us do and all of us have done the same as you, pieced together objective and subjective realities to come to a conclusion amongst which we have all those and other behaviors to go by and through comunication our diferent ideas are balanced with others' where it either is fully accepted or partially or not at all. This doesn't mean it isn't correct, but not all ideas make the grade when it comes to humans. Perhaps the best ideas are put to the side because they indicate the tougher of the paths to the truth. So if you want you can continue to play in the cyclic game of Im OK you are OK but they aren't OK. That way perhaps you feel safe and secure in that you know how to behave in that circle. Good Luck

Your non-conformity is conformity.

The whole idea that we would each choose our religion is a startlingly modern concept. For most of history, your religion was determined by your state; or at minimum, by your family.

Modern permissiveness has, properly, put that choice in our own hands. But in so doing, we have lost part of the point of religion: to be a cohesive societal force. And we somehow have come to belive that when we pick and choose beliefs we have done something unique. We have not.

That said, ideally, one can both belong to a strong cohesive religious group and think for oneself--in fact, be applauded for thinking oneself.

Everyone cannot be as authentic or original as you are.
It takes a lot of sense and bravery to fit things together to what works best for you.
A personalized system of creativity instead of fitting in the box.
It might make things more challenging for you,and that's the beauty of being true to you.
Go forth & prosper!
And think outside the box.

People are afraid of spirituality. It takes an effort and deep personal commitment to be at one with the infinite and get to know who you really are. And the easiest way to make believe that you are spiritual and approved by others without making the effort is religion.

Religion is the death of spirituality.

I evolved my own philosophy, but it's not based on anything but what I see around me. I have no rituals. What works for one culture doesn't always work in a new context, so I don't borrow from other religions.

it depends on the person. depending on if they are a leader(which you probably are) or a follower. also, it depends on how the person was brought up and how much they want to break away from their belief
