Positive; more goods and services connected with the wedding industry(from invitations and announcements to cakes, flowers and even honeymoon travel) not to mention wedding gifts on top of it all.
Economic stability and security for the couple in question.
More stable "married" families ready and willing to adopt and raise children. (Which I really hate to say this...but this can ONLY be a good thing)
Because partners are legally recognized as "next of kin," patients who are married tend to recover sooner and tend to be a lesser strain on the healthcare system!

Negative: the straights don't have a corner on the market anymore.

The positive is that homosexuals get equal rights
The negative is that people will hate them for it and accuse them of defiling the sanctity of marriage

If marriage was such a percious, holy thing then why isn't divorce illegal and why don't we just throw cheaters in jail for defiling the sanctity of this oh, so holy, too good to be for gays marriage?

THE POSITIVE ASPECTS: For the Couple: Rights of inheritance, rights of parenting, rights of next-of-kin during hospital stays and after death, rights of immigration as spouse, rights of not testifying against spouse, rights of taxation as married, and then some.

For Society: Increased spending on weddings, increasing economic activity; greater stability in gay relationships, thereby strengthening the social fabric; greater visibility of gay couples, providing positive role models for gay youth; additional revenue from wedding licenses; fewer court battles over inheritance; greater stability for adopted children, and others

THE NEGATIVE ASPECTS: Increased whining among conservative, reactionary religious people.
