Anime is for girls too! :) Anime is basically Japanese animation. Some anime shows can be awesome for your children, others, well................let's just say they need to be 13+. Did you know that in Japan, Pokemon is considered to be a good show for children because it teaches them morals and values? Same goes for the U.S. (Yes, Pokemon is an anime.) The reason that your child's teachers find anime innaproprate is because they only have seen the anime that is intended for teenagers and adults. There are plenty of anime for your child if he is 12 and under that is age-appropriate. Here are a few examples:
Pokemon
Digimon
Naruto (cut American version)
Dragon Ball Z (cut American version)
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Howl's Moving Castle (movie)
Spirited Away (movie)
Sailor Moon (cut American version. This show is not only for girls! :) There are plenty of boys that watch this show!)
Hope this helps!
God Bless!

Anime is an animation originating in Japan. We refer to american shows as cartoons and japanese shows as anime. It's not just "fasinating" to boys but girls too. Even grown age men and women watch anime. It's difficult to tell WHY people like it so much, but I think that anime is more realistic then cartoons...not everything has a happy ending. I think the anime drawing style of some artists are great like the anime "Naruto" for example. Where anime and cartoon have similar genres such as action, adventure, children's stories, comedy, drama, medieval fantasy, occult/horror, romance, and science fiction, anime seems to deal with things that we KNOW that goes on in the world today. Japanese genres also include things like erotica (hentai), boy on boy love etc. If you haven't watch anime, it's a bit difficult to explain. It's not a kid thing either, although there are MANY animes that a child under 14 shouldn't watch.
All I can tell you is you have to try in find animes that interest you to understand...and even then you might no get it :).

Anime is a Japanese cartoon and yes it is art whether u lik it or not. It's not just fascinating to boys but grls 2 and most anime artists are women. i don't c how it can be called as inappropriate, i mean European ppls call naked paintings of women art and we've seen dat in school and anime is nothin lik dat so i don't c wat's so inappropriate bout it unless ur son was studying anime when the teacher was teaching a lesson. maybe u should as the teacher y he/she thinks it's inappropriate and i think u should support ur children in their hobbies as long as they are reasonable hobbies lik art.
the animes and mangas r rated so look at the ratings be4 u buy it 4 ur son. Personally, i lik anime better cuz American cartoons look so lazy example: the Simpson's, i mean does it evr teach any values 2 kids (nope) but ppl still luv it
u can watch the anime ur son watches and c if u share the same feelings as him...try 2 understand ur son's point of view be4 making ur own opinions (dat's wat every1 sould do and the teacher 2)
i hope dis wrks out between the teacher and ur son...hoped i helped

Well, it's a different style of animation that seems to be becoming larger and larger. Now, it runs across many MANY genres, some of which are inappropriate, but it seems that's what people tend to focus on. The inappropriate anime and not those that don't even go near that line. All in all, it depends on what kind you were exposed to and what you think that art really is, and what it can stand for.

Anime : Japanese Animation
Anime has varied genres in it. So it's not that it's only fascinating for boys to watch, even girls like to watch anime.
If you're concerned about your son watching animation which isn't suitable for kids, find out the various kinds that he can watch.
Most anime, have alot of moral values instilled in it, experiences that talk about life and stuff like that. There's nothing wrong with anime. I personally like the art and the plots, they're quite gripping and entertaining as well.
Boys are usually into Shonen, Mecca & ecchi stuff (these type of anime revovle around action, sports and girls... stuff like that).
Do a little research online on manga & anime. You'll see that there's nothing wrong with it. People are just apprehensive to it because it's something different and not too popularized in their country.

Japanese animation. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Some of it has blood, violence and or nudity and many people as a whole are still not comfortable with their own or anybody else's body(might have to answer those embarassing questions).I personally enjoy it more than a lot of American cartoons,so do my sons.It empowers young people and definitely thinks outside the box.
