With all due respect to the other two but UCSD is easily the best choice academically. Besides Cal, UCSD is almost always neck & neck with UCLA in terms of academic strenght in the UC system. The UCSD campus & student body is usually known for it's seriousness towards academics... which in turn also gives them the reputation for being the nerdy-est UC campus. Despite it's party school reputation, UCSB is still a good academic school as well and UCD is also a good school (especially if considering a career in veterinary medicine or agriculture). UCSB & UCD are good choices but in terms of prestige and respect UCSD wins hands down.

Out of those three, UCSD is the most presitgious and respected because of it's great education. Although UCSB and UCD are good schools too, UCSD is better with teachers that have received Nobel Peace Prizes etc. Plus, UCSD has such a beautiful campus, and it's located at the beach. Hope that answers your question! I'm considering UCSD too, and it's such a hard choice to make because I'll be there for at least four years.

All campuses of UC are highly respected schools which can give anyone a fine education. If I lived in California I would have sent all my kids to one of the UCs and saved myself a pile of tuition money!!!!

In the National Rankings UCSD is ranked 38th and UCSB and UCD are tied at 47th, so when you consider that there are 3,800 campuses in the USA, that is essentially no difference at all in rankings.

If you have the option to attend one of these excellent schools, you can choose based on how you feel about the campus, without having to worry - you will get a good education at any of them.

UCSD is the best out of those 3 choices. It has a better reputation, faculty, location, name recognition, etc. Davis is good if you are interested in being a veterinarian and like riding bikes every day. UCSB is the worst out of the three and it may be hard to get people to take you seriously if you go there. I went to UCSD and my best friend went to UCSB... we both agree that UCSD is a better academic choice.
