I cover my guinea pig cage with a blanket made of guinea pig pelts just to show him whose boss.

as long as the cage still has some uncovered areas, it's ok. make sure the guinea pigs have somewhere to look out from... they might get bored and start fighting or chewing on stuff that they are not supposed to...

if the blanket is light, it's temporary and it doesn't cover the cage entirely, it's ok.

don't leave the cage covered more than 8 hours, even if the blanket is light.

As long as the cage is still has some ventilation, a light blanket is fine.

As long as the blanket is ''breathable'', sure.

But be warned that your guinea pig might decide that the blanket would do better inside of the cage, and tear a couple holes, while trying to get to it.

Yeah definitely, as long as some air can get in. We used to cover our rabbit hutch every winter night to stop the rabbits getting too cold. I think it is a good idea to leave the sheet off in the day, or at least for a few hours to air the cage.

I like the answer above though, ha ha.

Yes, a light one, never a thick one that can hamper their air, or an electric, they start on fire. Keep it loose and not hanging into the cage, they grab on and chew, the dyes and materials can be harmful.
