Being called cuss words in and of itself is not verbal harassment. Sorry but you need more than just that.

Otherwise just about every person in the country could file a law suit. There is such a thing as freedom of speech still in this country.

No...verbal harassment is when someone is constantly bothering you and won't leave you alone, even after you've told them to. ONE cuss word isn't harassment. That's him being argumentative. If he called you 10 times a day to call you names...waited in the parking lot after work so he could continue badgering you...THEN it's harassment. What you describe is verbal ASSAULT. There is a difference.

Verbal abuse can leave deeper scars than virtually anything you could possibly ever have to endure. The positive side of the issue is that you can continue this vicious cycle or end up avoiding it all together. If you continue to expose yourself to this, you begin to believe what's being said to you. That in itself can often cause irreversible damage to your self esteem.

Whenever someone makes a degrading comment to you or about your self worth...both actions are considered the same. Regardless of what kind of words are being used, I would consider your situation to be verbal abuse with the use of profanity.

Simply put: It's a lack of respect that none of us have to endure.

Wspecially by an X.

Male of female makes not difference once it is over then leave it and go to something else.

Remember it does take two to have an argument.

Most have a lot of bad crap to say abut the other for some time after the split.

If he used those same words to you when you were going out or married and you stayed with him, then no, that is not verbal harrassment. If he constantly calls you and leaves messages that are intended to scare and intimidate you, that is verbal harrassment. Cuss words alone do not constitute harrassment.

Undefined law... Harassment is anything that a particular individual finds offensive. If your asking this question, you obviously already know the answer.

Definitely verbal abuse. Not sure they could be arrested but if you can prove it in court you might have a case. Get a restraining order! Then if he/she continues they'll throw them in jail ;o)
