Ooh I have fun with them! I pretend to speak only French, and then if they get a French-speaking rep I pretend to speak only German or Russian or something. Oh golly they get SO very frustrated. It's the highlight of me day.

Why would you get telemarketing calls? Register on the National Do Not Call Registry. Never a call again. Companies can get in BIG trouble for calling once registration is complete. In response to your question, no I'm not mean or rude to telemarketers. I was one for many years. It helped me get through college. This was back before the registry. I'd hate to do it nowadays. Hanging up on telemaketers when your not interested in their product or service isn't rude. It's efficient. Although if they don't get an answer one way or another you stay on their call list. Soon you'll be over loaded with calls they have reporting requirements to follow. Sold, no answer, machine, Customer has said no 3 times. Those are the only choices. Remember that when dealing with these people. If you continue to choose to receive these calls. I haven't received one since the list began. It's great.

yes i am, but my mom takes the cake with being mean to telemarketers. My mom would tell telemarketers that she just got bankrupted and she can't do anything. This one time this robot would not say the numbers that she was saying and she was yelling at it and saying words that should not be repeated. At the end I told my mom that these things are sometimes they are recorded. My mom almost went in her pants. It was so funny!!

I wouldn't say I am mean or rude, but if I know it's a telemarketer by looking at caller ID, I answer the phone and start screaming in made up French, I can't speak a word of the language!

I don't get any more telemarketing calls since I switched to a VOIP phone. Unpublished, unavailable phone numbers, I think. I also don't get any on my cell phone. Good riddance, it's a good reason to never get a land line phone again.
When I used to get them, I would politely tell them"thank you, I am not interested" and immediately hang up.

I used to be VERY rude to telemarketers, but I decided to be nice to one of them and she was very polite to me and even gave me advice to stop telemarketers she told me to just tell them to take me off their list. I'm happy that I crossed paths with that women, I mean after all it is what they do for a living. :) It's pretty much the golden rule "treat others as you would like to be treated."

90% of telemarketers are rude anyway, so I don't feel bad. Not to mention that they know what they are getting themselves into when they apply for the job. So, it's their own fault.

Sometimes rude.
I was a telemaketer once after high school, and it is one experience I never want to repeat.
And best way to get rid of TMs? Always say that you're either the maid, the tenant or you speak no English.
