the universe is way to big to traval from one solor system to the next. alpha centauri is 4.3 light years away so we're not going to be visited any time soon:?"
i hear this quite alot, and from top scientists. we imply our science(remember we have only been flying for a littel over a hundred years) that another civiliztion maybe a billion years ahead of us, and they can't come here?
a billion year of technology, distants and time might be irrelevent. all i'm saying is, i think we need to be more open minded about this.

So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.

Why haven't we heard from them?

Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.

Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.

Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.

Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.

Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.

It is really impossible to know for sure.

The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

I find the attitudes of some scientists totally bemusing. They assume that, just because WE don't have the technology to travel the vast distances between stars, nobody else could possibly be able to do it!
Honestly, give it some thought. If a civilisation like ours could survive for 100,000 - 1 million years from now, do you think we would not have devised some way of overcoming the challenges of space travel? I find it hard to believe that we would not have done.

There could be civilisations out there in our galaxy and beyond who have existed for millions of years, and who therefore have technology that we could not even begin to imagine. I mean, what would ancient humans made of helicopters, jet planes, computers and the space shuttle?

As for the Fermi paradox, the answer to it is simple. They ARE here, as the data on UFOs clearly demonstrates. Weather balloons don't hover over missile silos and power down nuclear missiles. UFOs have done just that.

Not all scientists are so close-minded. The views of Michio Kaku, who is one of the leading physicists in the world, compare closely with some of the ones I have expressed here.

Sure they could come here. But the chances of any intelligent life being nearby are pretty slim, from what we can tell. So there might be some in our galaxy, but they could be 50,000 light years away. So by the time they even know we are here, we're probably dead - we've only been sending signals into space for about 100 years. Plus, even advanced civilizations can't break the laws of physics and travel faster than light to get here, so it will take them another 50,000 to get here, minimum. And do you really think mankind will last that long?

Well, if the nearest star is 4.3 light years away (and there is only a slim chance of aliens in that very solar system) then any aliens, even if they traveled at the speed of light, would spend more than 4.3 years coming (so double this in going back to their planet).
They probably haven't gotten as far as going to the speed of light (maybe close, but it's impossible to go at exactly the speed of light) and who even says they have fancier technology than ours? If they actually visited us this would be confirmed, but for now, we don't know what kind of technology they have. It could be even worse than ours (as scary as that thought may seem).

Honestly yes. We are being visited by other civilizations since times unknown.

And proof exists in the form of ancient cave paintings and carvings in South America etc.

Human abduction cases by aliens are also ample proof that there is indeed another civilization out there- far too advanced that they can enter our planet to do research.

A description of alien entitites by abductees shows that such humanoids can actually be real. For these reasons:

Any living creature to be as clever and creative as humans would need the same organs we have such as a head, eyes, nose, mouth, arms and legs. In brief, they would have to be humanoid.

Abductee reports state that these humanoids had gray skin- possible due to lack of exposure to Sun or other star and long stay in space.

Large dark eyes- possible since such humanoids would need extra vision to gaze into the darkness of the space.

Slim bodies- true, since any spacecraft designed for inter-planetary travel would not be designed to carry obese astronauts on board. Slimmer bodies are also possible since such planet exploring aliens will live on very little food or its substitute. Add to this, the zero gravity and constant stress of space travel.

Hence, the descriptions of alien biengs by abducted humans conforms to scientific reality.

Alien abductions were not exactly kidnappings but instead, could be a way of establishing contact with us by making us aware of their existance

I agree, just because we have not existed long enough to have the technology does not mean other beings have not been around lots longer. A really wonderful theory is that we were colonized here to insure survival of our species. Perhaps they had polluted their world and could not bring everyone here so they brought just a few.

I think I may have heard a few groans out there. LOL

Civilizations to me relate to other times in the earths history of how people lived.
I think you are referring to other solar systems whose beings may have come here before there were humans on this planet. But if that was the case I would think they would have returned by now. Maybe they have as what we call UFO or flying saucers.

Ah! The Fermi Paradox.

If there are other advanced civilizations out there way ahead of us, where are they? Why haven't they visited us yet. After all, there are no islands or remote areas left in the world where local people have never seen an airplane. If the universe is full of advanced space ships flying everywhere, where are they? Why don't we see them?

Sure, I don't see why not. The universe is huge, huge, huge. The possibility that another civilization exists is good. According to some here on earth; we've already been visited. Anal probes anyone?
