I've had a great way of getting rid of dust from my room for many many years and its only when I got older I was forced to give up this way of cleaning my room. But.... now that I am working I can get the same job done but from a different model except this one cost a bit more than the one before. The one good thing about this newer version is the less noise it makes when it is actually cleaning up the dust from my room. Ok in case you havent figured it out yet.... the first model was my MOMS and now I have a MAID.
Great way of cleaning your room. Get a maid.

Cover everything in plastic sheets... just joking! XD
I dunno, really; It happens to me too, A LOT. Just keep cleaning every weekend or so, that should keep the dust off regularly. Also use a static-infused cloth or something so that dust will get "trapped" and not just simply moved side to side.
Also, do you happen to get more dust in summertime compared to wintertime? This maybe because there is generally more dust present during hot weather and from increased amounts in construction and such. Are near a source of such things (i.e. nearby construction that is dusty)? Maybe the dust is filtering in through your windows... Try to install a finer mesh of window screens.
Also, you could try an Air Humidifier. For explanations on why this works, see the paragraph above (more dust present during hot weather than cool ones).
Hope that solves your problem... and mine! =P

Yes, it's a machine called a "vacuum cleaner." The newer ones have HEPA filters, which should help with the dust.

To get rid of it you'll probably have to dust, but i have an air purifier and it prevents dust from acumulating as much. also if u dust with the old english stuff on your wood furniture it also prevents it from acumulating as much.

They can be expensive, but you could consider something like this:

For wooden surfaces you could just dust with something like pledge. Bedding and linen can gather dust, I think, so maybe was it or have it cleaned more often.
I hope this helps.

Try a Dyson vacuum cleaner as it has hypo-allergenic filters for dust and pollen, and is bagless.
My son has plenty of allergies and it works for him.
