My friend just lost her bunny... I'm unsure if it was old age or not, but I do know she had him for a very long time. She's been asking if I know anyone with a bunny for free. If you know of anyone in the area of Connecticut (Hartford County) with bunnies for free please email me sweetsuezq4u@yahoo.com THANKS! If you know of any place we can buy one for cheap that would be most helpful. I appreciate all ur help! :)

I 2nd Petfinder.com! We found both of our bunnies there! $50 for a neutered male is an excellent deal considering you can spend at least that much for the surgery alone! Petfinder.com also has a section for Classifieds: http://www.petfinder.com/post/classifiedhop.html and people there might charge a small adoption fee (to ensure a good home). Some people on Craigslist might also charge a small adoption fee.

If you wait until after Easter, your choices may be better. Unfortunately, the novelty quickly wears off.

Even though the bunny may be free, I hope your friend has the money to provide for a vet should her new bunny need medical attention. :-/ Also, a spayed/neutered rabbit will live longer than an intact one. An unspayed female has an 80% chance of developing uterine cancer.

You should check the Pets section of your local Craigslist:
Hartford: http://hartford.craigslist.org/pet
Northwest Connecticut: http://nwct.craigslist.org/pet
New Haven: http://newhaven.craigslist.org/pet
Fairfield County: http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/pet
Eastern Connecticut: http://newlondon.craigslist.org/pet

Search for "rabbit" rather than "bunny." With just a quick glance I saw that someone in Litchfield County posted free rabbits on April 2.

Here is a link to a rabbit rescue located in East Hartford, Connecticut. They appear to have quite a few rabbits to choose from. Adoption fees are $70.00 for one rabbit and $120.00 for a bonded pair. This may seem like a lot of money, but anyone who cares about animals is not going to irresponsibly let a pet go without spaying or neutering, which is what this cost is for. If you find one somewhere else, please remember to spay or neuter. Thanks!

Check on Petfinder.com for local shelters & rescues, because rabbits are VERY common, you might want to wait until after Easter though, because that's when many are returned (So many people buy rabbits for Easter because ''it'd be cute'', and then realize the next day, that they don't want to care for it)

if you are getting a rabbit, make sure you get an adult. they need owners and forget the little ones
