I was just in this cheap jewelery shop with my juice which was in a fully seeled container right? (the shop assistant didnt say hi -but im getting used to that in this rude town (stupid auckland!) the first thing time she spoke to me she told me to hold on tight to my drink, i thought she was reffering to how i was cradelling it (tightly) in my arms so laughed and said 'oh yeah my hands are cold! to which she replied loudly no if you drop it ill charge you and you will clean it! well yeah obviously i wont intentionally drop it and if i did, i would clean it! but the rudeness of her and humiliation at being treated like a 2 year old had me running out of the shop before i could reply. This is just a recent situation i have worst 'moments' like this yano a every day annoyance u have to tell some one about.. i just want to no what YOU would do or say in this situation and your story about similar moments!

"If you can't trust me to hold on to my drink, how can you trust me to clean up after a spill?"

Last week, someone saw me and my friend coming to the open elevator he was in and frantically tried to close the door! I slung my portfolio out so the door wouldn't close, and we went in and smiled at him. He kept giving us the stink-eye.

I would have told her I think I know how to hold onto a drink thankyou..and she couldn't charge you for cleaning the carpet even if you did spill it. When you are open to the public you have to deal with this kind of things unless you post a sign no food or drinks. Then you just tell them they can't come into the store with drinks.

most stores do not allow food or drink in them. However, the salespeople are to be polite and friendly to the customers, not rude, regardless of the reason they approach you.

Moral of story...don't take your drink in a business anymore. Most places say "no food or drinls allowed".
