On the contrary. The new one is quite excellent.
I myself bought the original xbox 360 premium back in January, but I kept my receipt and box. When I found out they had another one coming out, with TONS more content (HDMI port for the TV, sleek black look, and 100 GIGS MORE HARD DRIVE SPACE), for only 80 bucks more, I said to myself, "Self? You need to return your xbox and get the new one"
I need the hard drive space for all the downloads, and am NOT paying 200 dollars to get the bigger hard drive. I'll just pay 80 more (after getting my 400 back) to get an xbox with the bigger hard drive (oh, and an HDMI port -- for High Definition gaming) ---- (oh, and its black ---- much cooler)...
:)
And on a side note, Microsoft doesn't need to "compete" with Sony's PS3 -- getting more competition from the PS2 than the PS3 :)

Just like I said in a previous post, ignore the new system and keep the original 360. Microsoft is just trying to gip you out of your money, as the graphics on their new 360 won't make much of a difference at all. That is, unless they deliberately make intensely graphic games that you can only enjoy on it

Yeah, I kinda know how you feel. I guess Microsoft had to do something to keep up with the Playstation 3. The new model almost costs as much as the 20GB PS3, which to me sounds crazy because the 20GB PS3 has a built in Blu-Ray player for the almost the same price as the new Xbox.

Well, they just want money so they can make anything they want. The 360 and the Elite are the same except for the hard drive 120GB.
