YES ... and this is coming from someone who is only 2nd Generation American (MY Grandparents were Polish Immigrants -- and yes, they only knew how to speak Polish when they entered the US).
I have great difficulty when I have to listen to those who complain or DEMAND that others speak what they want us to ... for America is a GREAT BLENDING POT ... and yes, all those who came before us DID learn English either before they immigrated, or upon entering the country.

English would desire to honestly be made the respected language of the U.S. Which between the three hundred+ different languages might you opt for? The, via some distance, 2d maximum person-friendly? that would not even make experience. and how might we reconcile making the different language respected with the actuality that the records which show the very ideals of the u . s . a . -- which, via the way, comprise welcoming human beings from everywhere in the international -- have been written in English? Into which between the three hundred+ languages spoken in the u . s . a . we would desire to translate the form and the assertion of Independence: Korean, Russian, Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic? We shouldn't overlook that we are all united interior of one united states; 'e pluribus unum' ('out of many, one)'. it is why the rustic is pronounced as the u . s . a . -- as in, "United we stand, divided we fall." Alexander the large knew that someone-friendly language is an absolute necessity if a rustic is to stand reliable. Have we found out no longer something in 2,3 hundred years?

I thought it was the official language. If it's not then it should be. Most of us only speak English anyway and even the illegal immigrants that come here seem to pick it up pretty quickly. I've heard stories that go........those poor immigrants can't understand our language. Well my opinion is if they are illegal then they should learn cuz we didn't ask them to come to our country. If I go to their country then I'll learn their language. If they're legal then they should know some to begin with, especially those here to work.

i say yes, it is the major language spoken in the majority of states but many people will argue that the us is a melting pot and we should not have an official language, the way it currently is
English is not the official language, there is no official language, my friend works for the attorney generals office. it is a common misconception

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! I think if you don't know English you should either learn it or get out. This "press 1 for English, press 2 for Spanish" is absurd.
