Nearly every US citizen buys goods that were made in countries like Taiwan and China and so on that we KNOW use child labor and pay adults a pittance!

What can be done about it?

I think we should bring US companies back to the US and pay our citizens a living wage!

I'd pay a little more to save people around the world from slavery!

Then pay a little more if you want. But do you tink those people would work for that wage if there was a better job available? If you bring the jobs back here those people will starve instead of working for cheap. Great idea lib.

Many Americans are unaware that those nations have labor laws. And those nations aren't enforcing them.

It's one of the reasons I don't support any environmental treaties with them. We don't need any more one sided agreements.

But you aren't going to sell me on American made goods, either. My father has seen the inside of too many NYC sweat shops.

And you cannot force American companies to stay in America, either. Our nation doesn't operate that way. You are free to boycott American companies who out-sourced, and I actually do boycott a couple of old favorites who moved to Mexico (Levi's for one). But it has more to do with the poor quality of the goods, and the price doesn't reflect the cheaper labor, either.

As long as the Americans are buying the cheapest goods, American companies will outsource. It is the American businesses who need to innovate, and this is not the job of government to fix. But I do support ending tax breaks to businesses which outsource. And I support tying tax incentives to innovation.

And to the people feeding their families over there, it isn't slavery.

You are right, but greed is the problem, and as long as companies are only concerned with their bottom line, and as long as the government rewards outsourcing, instead of rewarding those who stay in the country and pay their people a living wage, this problem will persist! *sm*

Turn in your computer, little missy...it is made by those foreign "slaves." Then go to those countries and start up your own company...be sure to pay them well! After all...you are so very concerned...

That is not my problem. I like cheap products. You can pay more if you like. I may get tons of thumbs down, but I am being honest. Frankly, that is THEIR problem, not mine. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

US must not have trade with countries using child labor and slavery because it is inconsistent with democracy.
