80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

As humans we think of ourselves as the end of the line in evolution. As such we feel that our lives as individuals must have some greater meaning. When we consider that we as a species comprise a given percentage of the biomass based on our consumption as top predator this is an easy trap to fall into. The true meaning of life should be considered from the perspective of the biomass itself. We as humans have been around as a numerical percentage of the biomass for a relatively short span of time. Especially considering the length of time the biomass itself has been present on this planet as a "consistent mass". We are nothing more then an expression of the biomass. Another permutation that it's created in it's own game of survival and expansion. For the question to be relevant it must be asked "What is the desired goal of the biomass"? In this context the answer is simplicity itself. The goal is to expand beyond the confines of the planetary biosphere. To achieve this goal it is necessary to create a permutation capable of designing the next stage of evolutionary consciousness and humans with their mechanical ingenuity seem well equipped to do so. If, in fact, they don't destroy themselves in the process. It's been said that necessity is the mother of invention. The biomass is counting on that. That's why we were created so virulent.

seriously man, you know all too well no one can give you a proper logical answer for this, you also know all too well the answers you will get are more opinions and they would most likely to be things that you have already heard. so why don't you ask a real question, one that you know can be answered.
try to ask open question. questions that people can elaborate on. my answer for you question is as a logical person..
i don't know
no
no clue what you are on about
if you check all your answers, the only ones that you will agree on will be the ones that are simply the same as mine but made more confusing so that you think its clever.
have a good time, 2 points for me.

Each person finds their individual "meaning" to life.
For some, it may involve marriage and family.
For another, it might be teaching an academic subject or tutoring a young artist or musician.
For another, it might be complete, total hedonism.
For another, it might be the life of a slacker; taking the path of least resistance wherever possible.

This is one of the questions mankind has been asking for a long time and there are a lot of answers, but how can YOU choose the right one?
I think that every individual must find the TRUE answer in its own cerebrations, because life and what that individual makes of it is that individuals true purpose of ever being born.

Have you ever played Sim city? I think the meaning of life is that god was bored and decide to make the earth and watch over it like a movie. Either that or life is a test to see if we are worthy of god and if we are good enough to go to heaven.
I'm not exactly sure but this is what I think.

Bang on when BNF said 42 though your problem is you have not got the proper question; the answer to whatever that question may be is 42 though we better hope that our planet isn't destroyed to make a by-pass through space before it calculates the question.
