it's the stupidest thing i've ever heard of and i am seeing it everywhere. i can't stand it!! whats the deal??

well people are definitly using it for things other than fashion. it seems some are using it every time they would normally use "hot".

Because they saw it in combination with couture.
Haute couture - OK
Haute guy - NOT OK.

Why would anyone want to spell "hot" as "haute" when "haute" has its own meaning. It is French for "high" and is most often seen in the phrase "haute couture" meaning "high sewing/dressmaking". It seems to me that using a word wrongly like this would lead to ambiguity and a failure to understand what the writer intends. But perhaps that is the purpose in doing so.

"Haute" is a French word -it means “high”.

Haute couture means high fashion, so if someone's clothes or style is "hot" it may also be "haute."

Perhaps they are thinking of "haute couture" fashion.
