Whoa. I have seen jump rope competitions before and the folk who participate in it are very , very fit. Yes it is a sport. It has all of the elements of sport. 1)competition 2)a score 3) a winner and loser 4)physical prowess and 5)skill
Although i consider it a sport, I group sports into two categories. "Judged sports" like cheer, synchronized swimming, ballroom dancing, figure skating, marching bands and drum corps ect. The other is Sport where you must get points or "score" to beat your opponent like lacrosse, hockey, football, soccer, raquetball, squash. I hope this helps you=)
And no LOL sorry you didn't spell it right. Your missing an "R" and you have to space jump and rope. It's actually called Competitive Jump Roping or I think some call it Power Jumping

I can't stand all the spam on this site. (see above post) I wish everyone would report people like that. Anyway for your question--

Amazingly enough JUMP ROPING IS! They have competitions for it. And official counters to see who can do the most in a certain amount of time. At first I thought no way can this be a sport--it's a workout and a workout is not a sport. But it is considered a sport and sometimes shown on ESPN.
