Peer pressure, family tradition, trend, etc.; it makes me sick. My elders & peers dislike who I am and want to fill my brain with their ideas & trends. I hardly make friends because of this, although I don't want to remain anti-social all my life. Can't I just be myself without being a crowd-pleaser?

You think very much like I do on this subject--it also makes me sick. Yes, you should be yourself--never a crowd pleaser. I very much dislike people who conform--particularly just for the sake of conforming. Everyone should be who they really are, inside.

You're conforming to the non-conformers. It's impossible to be Nonconformist.

You can be yourself, but people may not like it. And if you're not making friends, maybe actually talk to people. You can't just sit around and ASSUME everyone's all "ZOMFGAVIODCUZTHEYRNOTLIKEMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
Because they're not.

And Family Tradition usually has been around for GENERATIONS. It's just always done. It's not being a "Conformity Zombie", it's representing your family.

So, are my family Christmas parties sickening to you? Too bad.

you are the only person you can please. you will never be able to please everyone all the time. You have to know who you want to be and be it.
