I don't know if it's fair to lump everyone in a party together philosophically.

Generally, the Republican party has been pro-business, pro-military, anti-big government. Some would argue the last point doesn't apply to the current administration. The Republican party has in the past few decades come to be associated with religious fundamentalism. The party platform has been pro-life, and exhibits other tendencies that some feel are somewht theocratic.

Democrats have been pro-environment, pro-choice, pro social justice. They are often branded as being liberal, and the Republicans are conservative, but you can find many crossover examples in both directions.

The current sniping from both sides, belies the fact that there are plenty of guilty parties on both sides of the aisle. A politician is not someone to be held up as a role model, although there are certainly honorable men on both sides of the aisle as well.

I'm not an American, but for the reason that you aren't getting valuable responses, i will take a shot, but observe that there are no absolutes and both events encompass a variety of philosophy. Democrats are sincerely liberals. They suppose in strong govt, a balance between capitalism and socialism with robust regulation of capitalism. They believe the rich will have to help the bad or deprived through a innovative tax system and liberal social packages. Democrats tend to be higher informed professionals. Republicans are conservatives who suppose in limited executive (and low taxes), and unfettered capitalism and minimal sharing of resources. In actual fact all people for themselves and let the bad or disadvantaged sink or swim. They're extra prone to be religious and not more good expert than Democrats. The important problems in the us incorporate (in no precise order): 1) the polarization of affairs of state and the unwillingness to check out to bridge the hole and compromise, 2) the huge national debt largely because of the last 8 years of Republican rule, three) the legacy of self serving overseas coverage from the final a hundred+ years ... I.E. Terrorism and a pair of simultaneous wars, four) dependence on international oil, 5) crumbling infrastructure, 6) the unsupportable rate of hospital treatment (that well being Care Reform tied to deal with, however does not do good), 7) climate exchange, eight) the economic climate, 9) crumbling schooling system, 10) unsupportable private debt.

i'm no longer an American, yet on the grounds which you're no longer getting clever responses, i'm going to take a shot, yet be conscious that there are no longer any absolutes and the two events embody extremely some philosophy. Democrats are certainly liberals. they suspect in reliable government, a stability between capitalism and socialism with reliable regulation of capitalism. they suspect the wealthy would desire to help the undesirable or deprived by way of a inventive tax device and liberal social classes. Democrats tend to be greater effective knowledgeable experts. Republicans are conservatives who have self assurance in constrained government (and occasional taxes), and unfettered capitalism and minimum sharing of components. certainly anybody for themselves and enable the undesirable or deprived sink or swim. they are greater in all risk to be non secular and much less properly knowledgeable than Democrats. the main issues in the U. S. comprise (in no specific order): a million) the polarization of political ideals and the unwillingness to objective to bridge the hollow and compromise, 2) the extensive nationwide debt quite often through final 8 years of Republican rule, 3) the legacy of self serving distant places coverage from the final a hundred+ years ... i.e. terrorism and a pair of simultaneous wars, 4) dependence on distant places oil, 5) crumbling infrastructure, 6) the unsupportable value of medical care (that well-being Care Reform tied to handle, yet would not do properly), 7) climate exchange, 8) the financial device, 9) crumbling training device, 10) unsupportable very own debt.

I'd liken Democrats & Republicans as different crime families in the same mafia. There's not a big difference between the two, but let's try:

Democrats believe the US is great because of its government. Republicans believe the US is great because of its people.

Democrats think the best way to increase government spending is to tax the wealthy. Republicans prefer to borrow money to increase government spending.

Democrats tend to want to control behavior through your wallet. Republicans are content to control your behavior.

Democrats appeal to your feelings to see their way of thinking. Republicans appeal to your logic to see their way of thinking.

There's certainly plenty of things that both Democrats & Republicans agree on. For example, both parties are all for illegal immigration, although each party has different reasons for not wanting to stop it. They both agree to try to shut out any alternative parties to get a voice in politics. They both only care about being re-elected, so both spend most of their time working on getting re-elected, instead of listening to their constituency.

That is difficult to do because the way one party would describe itself, the other party would claim to be untrue.

And that is why having a two party system is polarizing and very unhealthy for a democracy (and the US is not really a democracy, it is a republic). It is much better for EVERYONE to be independent, thinking for themselves and discussing options with everyone. But that will never happen because people love to hate each other and call each other names.

The democrats basically seem to concentrate on civil liberties, domestic programs and generally are reluctant to go to war. usually "pro choice" on abortion.
The Republicans usually are more traditional in their beliefs with a strong reliance on religious freedoms and protecting the American Way of Life. usually Pro Life.

Repbulicans- say they are for smaller government, less taxes,
less social programs etc etc. But the reality is that they have sold out to big business

Democrats- say they are for bigger government, more taxes,
more social programs etc etc. But the reality is that they have
sold out to big business.

They are the same animal. Just look at how much money you have to raise to even run for President. By the way Hilliary will be the next president. It is already planned.

the democrats want to be everyone's mommy, the republicans, daddy. They both want to control us more than the founding fathers ever intended, the difference is to what degree.
