It's true that Mt. Everest is the highest mountain but the Earth being not a perfect sphere its equatorial diameter being larger than pole to pole diameter,Mt. Chimborazo in South America emerged as the farthest mountain top point from Earth's center hence,if the moon is directly over it I think Mt. Chimborazo's top is the nearest to the moon.

i suppose, when the moon is directly above it, mount everest, because it is the highest mountain on the earth. since the moon is not always above it, there is no real answer to this.

edit - i realize that mount everest would be farthest from the moon which is why i said there would not be a single mountain that is constantly closest to the moon.

The top of Mount Everest is also farthest from the moon when it is on the other side of earth.
