Rapping is a way of interacting with (or without the beat) by talking instead of singing. Hip-hop is the entire culture of the music that includes MCing, graffiti writing, DJing, and breakdancing/B-boying. In the song Rapture, Debbie Harry of Blondie raps, but that doesn't make her a hip-hop artist.

Hip hop is the "culture" -rap/mcing is apart of the culture, along with tagging, dancing, etc.

the difference between rap music and hip hop music is rap is more about the lyrics and hip hop is more about the beat, basically a good club track, something that you can dance to. lol i hope that helped.

Rap is basicly a poem said over a beat while someone is usually talking fast. Hip hop is usually people singing over a beat.

I think hip-hop is more upbeat, with faster music. Example: TLC

Rap is more laid-back, with a more relaxing background. Example: Too Short

easy
hip hop talks about money, drugs sex and all that material stuff or usually like for ex all the new hip hop usually talks about nothing
and rap has a meaning and talks about life, gangs, and how to get by and make the world a better place
or as KRS One himself says 'rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal, MCs spit rhymes to uplift they peoples'
examples of both
hip hop: lil wayne, diddy, jeezy, mims, lloyd, akon
rap: Tupac, Nas, Ice Cube
