Since it's the fate of all civilizations to either expand or stagnate and eventually collapse we have to colonize other planets if we are survive to preserve anything of the environment and expand civilization.

Actually, our living conditions today are far, far better than they were even 100 years ago. And you don't even want to think about 500 years ago. The average work week is 40-45 hours (unless you're the CEO of IBM with 55-70 hours) instead of dawn to dusk 7 days a week. With thermostatically controlled HVAC, paved roads, hot & cold running water, and fresh food 365 days a year only a 10 minute drive away at your local Stop N Shop for a pittance of your total income, I really don't see what you're worrying about. The problems we have are in third world countries, and as hard as we try to help them, their govts. continue to perpetuate their poverty, and the people continue to perpetuate AIDS. Are you sure we live on the same planet?

Wow, you've really fallen for all the doom and gloom that the media loves to perpetuate. The real irony for you is that there has never been a better time to be alive...that being measured by the average standard of living. I suggest you learn a bit more about history and what the world really used to be like.
You've also fallen for the science-fiction fantasy that is actually possible for us to "colonize" other planets. Beyond a few scientific outposts, you'd better get used to the idea of humanity being stuck on this rock forever.

The way in which the population of this world is going we will be ravaged with overpopulation before we even reach another planet to colonize. It is the sad truth!

Yes, about 1400 years ago when Islam was born, the planet suddenly got too small for everyone to live on it happily. Things have only gotten worse since then and soon it will be too late.

No. It's not too bad here. Where you gonna go and how do you get there? You're stuck on earth.

Not yet, which is fortunate, because we don't have that capability yet, and the first colonies won't be self sufficient for a long time.
