I've been seeing alot of timeshares for Disney area on Ebay. Has anyone ever done one of these or should I steer clear and just fork over the cash at the local hotels? I really need help on this one.

Timeshares are okay, if you don't mind going to them. Personally, I would avoid them because it is not my idea of a vacation. However, if you need to save some money, it can definitely be a good way to go.
My first piece of advice, however, is to stay away from eBay. You are taking a risk with eBay as far as what you are getting into. You never know if the companies are real, what they really include, etc. So, I would stay away if possible.
What you can do is call some of the timeshares in Orlando, Calypso Cay, Westgate, Star, etc. are just a few, you can look online to get more. Call them up and see what they are willing to offer you for doing a tour. Generally, they are going to put you in a 2 bedroom suite for a very good price, usually under $100 a night. They will also give you tickets to area attractions and things like that. You can get info from several companies and then decide which one is going to work the best for you.
Make sure you ask what the requirements are as well. For example, they usually require you to be married, have an income of at least $xx.xx and so on. So make sure that you qualify before going too far so you don't have to pay full rate or anything like that.
Just remember, the timeshares are high pressure things. They are going to try and sell you a timeshare and they don't like taking no for an answer. Most of the people work off of commission a good majority of the people that do the tours are just looking for a deal, so it becomes a little frusterating for them. So when you say they aren't interested, it can still take a while to get away.
Be sure to estimate several hours to do the tour. They usually say something like 90 minutes, but very rarely does anyone get out of them that fast (remember you have to do the whole thing and get them to authorize or approve your free tickets or other benefits before leaving) You usually start out by touring one of the villas (which is a little odd since you usually stay in their resort) they will walk you around the grounds, usually show you a video, etc. Then they will sit down and discuss more of the benefits, they may have breakfast or lunch available as well. After discussing everything they are going to start getting you quotes for ownership and they will keep getting lower as you continue to say no. At some point they will get a manager who is going to offer you their "best deal" after the manager you usually are able to get out. Generally you are looking at 4 to 5 hours or so. Just wanted to make sure you don't plan for it to be quick and easy, it does take some time.
Again, just be sure to look over what they have to offer. A lot of the companies make it look a lot better than it is but offer tickets to less popular attractions and things like that.
Again, I would try to avoid eBay. If you still think the timeshare is a good deal and you are interested in it, I would definitely call and see what you can find.

The actual timeshare offers are a great vacation deal however, you have to know that along with a very cheap vacation comes a sales presentation. Depending on the resort and the salesperson, these timeshare presentation can be very aggressive. If you are not in the market to purchase a timeshare and you can say no and continue to say no then the timeshare offer can be a good deal. If you are like me and will give in under the pressure of a sales presentation, it would be best to look for another form of accommodations.

My experience with the timeshares here is that It's a very hardsell but you absolutely can get free park tickets, free stay, free airline tickets, whatever but you have to mentally prepare for it. They do normally ask you for your salary info and etc because it is just like purchasing anything (a car a house...) because they are assuming you will eventually make a purchase. The "positive" at least in my experience is that if you sit through the presentation, decline to purchase a timeshare and get your reward, they rarely don't bother you again, at least they never have to me and I have done it 3 times, twice in Orlando prior to me living here year round and 1 time in another tourist destination. Would I do it again? Perhaps but time permitting. It does normally take an entire day so if this is your vacation be sure to speak with the family before making the choice to "waste" a day!

The reason you see these on Ebay is someone realizes they were taken, bought one, and have now found out you can't sell it. There are all kinds of outfits that says they will sell your timeshare for you, the catch is they want money up front.
By the time you pay for the time share, $5,000 to 15,000 for just a week, you have to pay a yearly maintenance fee, this may be worded differently, you could rent a unit and save. Think about it, they sell each unit for one week. They sell the same unit 52 times. At $10,000 a pop, that's $520,000 per unit. $300-500 per year for each unit/week maintenence fees. Then when it's time to refurnish the unit, you get hit with a special assessment. BAD DEAL.
Don't do it.

I would be very careful about these my sisters husband signed up for one without my sisters consent and signed her name . All though it is not a Disney timeshare but they probably all work the same . They can only use it if they call 3 months in advance they had to put 2000.00 down and then every time they try to call they said it is booked for that weekend and the weekends are the only time they can go . They have only stayed there 3 times each time having to pay 60.00 every night except for one of those nights they had to pay 75.00

Listen very carefully.....
1. Stay clear.
2. Fork over the cash, definitely!!
The TWO TO FOUR HOUR HARD SALE is not worth any money you save. Horrible time, and you feel trapped.
Stay at Best Western Eastgate. 1/2 hour east of Disney. Has a buffet breakfast and a decent restaurant. BIg pool and playground and play room for the kids.

yes and mickey mouse shows up every morning at 7am un-announced demanding breakfast from you. Such a pain.
