Yeah change the first boot device on the locked out pc in your bios to boot from cd and insert your xp install cd. Reboot and
It will go right into the xp install and you can then format the drive and reinstall xp.

Do what forest said and forget what fatmosh said, that resets the password for the BIOS/computer, has nothing to do with windows passwords. If what forest said didn't work, just reboot with the windows cd in the drive and follow the instructions to set up windows and do a "recovery installation" it'll just overwrite your current windows without erasing all your documents and such.

there is a way to reset the password , listen open the case then there is a small battery in the mother board , it's called the rom . get it out then for some while then put it another time . then i think you won't find the computer asking you for a password but try to get the battery out for a long time coz i am not sure that this will be ok if you get it for a small time . and try to run the computer without it too and c what happened. but anyway you w'ont need to format the windows and good luck .

You don't need to reinstall Windows XP. It is a bit too drastic. Instead, you can bypass the password easily. Please read the following article on how to bypass the password.

"How to Break Into a Password Protected Windows XP" -- written by WikiHow (http://www.wikihow.com/Break-Into-a-Password-Protected-Windows-XP)

If you are dead set on reinstalling Windows XP, it is equally easy to accomplish. Place your Windows XP Installation CD in to your CD-ROM Drive or DVD Drive. Restart the computer. It will boot from the CD drive. A menu will appear asking what you want to do. Choose Reinstall Windows XP. It will then ask you which volume (i.e. which hard drive if you have more than one). Select the desire hard drive. For more detailed instructions with screenshots, please read Lifehacker's article:

forget that.

start the computer.

press f8
go into safe mode
click the administrator account

click start, control panel.

it should let you change the password to it.
if not, then you set an overall password in safe mode.

yes, however, if you're locked out from loading windows vs. versus locked out after it loads ....makes a difference...scenerio 1...boot w/wincd......enter.....f8.....accept....when it ask if want to repair/recover say yes and it takes you to the recovery console.....or without the disk as soon as bios clicks...press f8 which opens windows allowing you various options including network...cmd prompt etc....this is the "safe mode" and will run extremely slow....but, you can't hurt it in safe mode.....if none of these work and you're not concerned about losing your data....throw the disk in format and go on....or just obtain another drive...make it your new boot drive...install the old as "slave" and you have all your data..have a rainbow-kind-of-day...
