As I understand it, although there are exceptions, for the most part a hurricane cannot form with ocean temperatures below 20 degrees C and they can become awesome category 5s with water temperatures of 23 degrees. This equals 293 and 296 degrees Kelvin, respectively, a differential of only 1%. Has there been any scientific answers developed to explain exactly why such a small
difference in temperature from 293K can cause make vesus not for tropical storm development?
