HI guys--

I ended up with two car seats as gifts-- the same brand! ha. The thing is, they got GREAT safety ratings and its defintely the brand I want. The thing is, only one of our 2 cars are currently "baby safe"-- I drive a Ford Ranger and even though you can turn the airbag off, I dont think I'll be putting baby in my truck at all.

We'll be buying a second baby-safe car in mid or late summer. Baby is due this month, so she'll already be 4+ months old then. The seat is rated for up to 30 lbs.

Should we keep both and plan to use the second one in 4 months or should I return it and get a larger seat when we get the second car? I dont know how hold a 30lb kid is.....

Mty daughter is 2 and weighs 32 pounds, check to see if the car seat has a height requirement as well, some do. You can buy car seats that go from 22 pounds up to 80 pounds, so it is a front facing seat until the child is 40 pounds and then turns into a booster until they are 80 pounds. I'd return the seat and look for one like that.

I would return the car seat and decide what would be best to get when you do get a second car. Because you have no idea how big your baby will be at a certain age. Because my son was a big baby and only stayed in his infant car seat for 4 months, then we had to buy a new one. So best to wait and see what will fit your needs and the baby when you get the car. You won't want to be stuck with an extra car seat you can't use. My son was 30lbs at a year!

Generally, a 30 lb baby is around 3 years old, give or take.

Keep the 30 lb. car seat, I don't suggest you use it until your baby is nearly a year old. A 30 lb car seat is made to restrain toddlers the best, not infants. You need an infant car seat that faces rearwards for the baby's first year of life. 30 lb car seats aren't usually made to do that, at least not very easily or safely enough for your infant.

Also, NEVER put your child in any car seat in the front seat, always in the back, and always in the middle.

I would def. Seek advice with a brand new doctor. That appears little or no for a 4 month ancient. The final rule of thumb with system is that a little one must have about 2.5 oz per pound of body weight per day. The first thing is that it's very problematic to understand what number of ounces a child is consuming when he's breastfeeding, or in case your formulation feeding. It is higher to look at the output -- 6-eight very wet diapers per day, and a BM day-to-day or every different day or so. For probably the most phase, a youngster will consume as a lot as he needs to consume, assuming he's being supplied meals when he's hungry. If there's now not enough meals, then he would possibly not devour sufficient. But he'll discontinue when he doesn't need to any extent further. There may be probably a development spurt around three-4 months, as well, so he may just abruptly be consuming more than you anticipate. Demand will level off again. Def. Consult with a brand new pediatrician. Sounds to me like your baby isnt getting ample food.

If you are getting a new car at a dealership they might throw in a car seat at least put the seat in right. My two children were over 2 1/2 before they broke the 25 lbs. Are the car seats that grow with the kids? Keep a car seat in both cars so you won't have to switch them(in the pouring rain) and you won't have the discussion of one can't take that car.

Depends on the baby. My son was 4 when he FINALLY hit 30 lbs but he was WAY over the height limits for any baby car seat.

My boyfriend's nephews are 18 months old: 30 lbs. 4 years old: 34 lbs.

Depends on the kid.

It totally depends on the kid...my children were 30lbs at 18 months but I know 4 year olds who don't make it to 30lbs. If the child is tall or muscular they will weigh more. Sometimes if the child is tall, they will grow out of a seat before they are too heavy for it.

every baby is different. my daughter is 10 months and only weighs around 15lbs. and everyone tells us she is underweight because she is long. but our DR tells us she is just a petite baby and she is perfectly healthy. our car seat says the same thing rated for up to 30 lbs. but the thing about it is she is getting a little to big for the car seat her legs are extending further out. so we got another car seat one of those forward facing ones and she fits in perfectly. so i would suggest to wait and see. but i would probably return it and get a larger seat when you get the second car.

a 30lb baby is around 18 months to 2 years old but in your case truthfullly i would buy one for a new born baby that way you know your baby will be safe right up to there 12 months old.But do not what ever you do put a baby in the front where there is an airbag unless it has been chipped so it wont go off in a crash.

i ought to def. communicate with a sparkling healthcare specialist. that looks little or no for a 4 month previous. the overall rule of thumb with formula is that a touch one must have about 2.5 oz in accordance to pound of bodyweight in accordance to day. the first difficulty is that it really is totally confusing to comprehend what percentage oz a touch one is ingesting at the same time as he's breastfeeding, or in the adventure that your formula feeding. it really is more advantageous perfect to observe the output -- 6-8 very moist diapers in accordance to day, and a BM on a daily basis or the different day or so. For the most area, a touch one will devour as a lot as he needs to devour, assuming he's being presented food at the same time as he's hungry. If there is not any longer adequate food, then he would no longer devour adequate. yet he will provide up at the same time as he would not choose any more advantageous. there is often a boom spurt round 3-4 months, besides, so he would without note be ingesting more advantageous than you assume. call for will factor off back. Def. communicate with a sparkling pediatrician. sounds to me like your infant isnt getting adequate food.
