You are having a chemical pregnancy. A chemical preg. occurs when a sperm fertilizes an egg, and the embryo implants. But the embryo is chromosomally abnornal and it dies quickly. Therefore, there is a small amount of HCG in your blood (usually 10 or less is considered a chemical PG), but not enough to indicate a healthy pregnancy. Since the embryo is only microscopic at this point, you might not notice any difference in the period after a chemical pregnancy.

Chem. pregnancies are fairly common, and the good news is that they are just a random event that will probably never happen to you again.

That said, there is s very slight chance you could still be pregnant. I have seen pregnancies with starting HCG levels of 11 turn into regular pregnancies if the embryos were late implanters. To make sure, you should have a repeat beta to make sure the number has dropped.

at 4 weeks take another home pregnancy test and you should know for sure. HcG levels double every 48 hours or so. I did some research a while ago to find the home test that detected the lowest and Answer Early Pregnancy test as well as Accuclear (early) detected the lowest. I know a week is an eternity when you want to know, but you WILL know.

It sounds like you had a miscarriage and your HCG levels are dropping. A level of 9 is very low. As for it just being your period i don't think so, you definately were pregnant, and possibly still are.
Get them to do another blood test to see if the levels are decreasing or increasing.
I'm sorry, i had a similar experience in December.

have your dr do blood tests, two of them two days apart and get the blood drawn at the same time ie. 12pm for both, if you are pregnant (still) your hcg will double in forty eight hours. If you are no longer pregnant, your levels will go back down to 0. I really think you are/were preg though.

good luck
