This would mean that in 4 days anyone who does not have Direct TV would not be able to watch baseball on TV.

Baseball will not be available on Dish or any cable carrier. It will be available on the computer with a 4" viewer screen and an approximate cost of $100 a month.

Also in this agreement for the next 2 years Direct TV customers will experience a "slightly" higher bill to include baseball in their programming this increase will pay for the creation of a "baseball channel" that will "exclusively premier" on Direct TV but not until 2009.

If this deal goes through it will open the way for other providers to make similar deals. Imagine this: you watch CSI, House, Law and Order, Greys Anatomy, Dancing With the Stars and American Idol, these shows could be bargined into premium programs on any provider. It sounds farfetched but...all TV used to be free!!

This does not mean that ALL baseball is only available on Direct TV. The local stations, local cable, TBS with the Braves, WGN with the Cubs and White Sox, and WOR(?) with the Mets, Fox on Saturdays, and the ESPN Sunday games are still available on the cable outlets.

What is changing is the capablility to have all baseball games available on premium cable channels that has been available for a few years. That is moving to Direct.

I listen to baseball games on the radio. I refuse to pay for it. They need to find a way to really cap player's salaries so that the owners stop thinking of ever increasing ideas to bilk the fans.
I hope that many dramas go to pay TV. I don't want to watch that crap anymore. It's all about getting people addicted to the stories so that they HAVE TO WATCH, even if they had to pay. Are we really better people for having watched CSI? Do we have to pay MORE for it?
