I cant find my paint code and i want to fix a really long scratch but i bought the wrong paint. I cant find any websites that will tell me the code. Here is a picture of another escort with the same color im not sure if this helps : http://www.wecu.com/admin/documents/uploadimages/FordEscort_96.jpg does anyone else own the same color escort?

It will be either in the driver door jamb or under the trunk lid. Look for a "BC,CC" code (base coat, clear coat)

Well, on most ford cars, the paint coed is a two letter code, near the bottom left side of the sticker, that is located, in the drivers door jam. The one that has the tire info, and vin on it and such. Hope that helps. If not try to take a photo of the door jam with that sticker, and I think I can help you out there.

If all else fails, then go to a paint shop and ask them to match the color of the car. The way they do this is, they take a small sample of the paint and put it in a machine. The machine then tries to get the closest match possible. Also that same auto body shop may know where to find the paint code on your car.

open up your drivers door and on the post somewhere will be a white sticker, about 3" x 4" and will have a bar code on it.

Look like this (minus the bar code) http://www.nmbpaint.com/ford1.jpg

if you look on the sticker, to the left at the bottom you will see it say paint code. in this example it is 54H.

Being a green color, yours should read like DA or SR or NA, maybe PS, SH. Basic Ford greens.

IT SHOULD BE ON THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR
IT WILL BE A WHITE TAG THAT SAYS MFD. BY FORD MOTOR CO. IN USA.
IT WILL BE ON THE LOWER LEFT OF THE TAG.IF IT IS NOT THERE IT MAY HAVE BEEN REMOVED SO YOUR NEXT STEP IS TO GO TO YOUR LOCAL AUTO BODY SUPPLY STORE AND LOOK AT THE PAINT CHIPS FOR THAT YEAR
GOOD-LUCK

take it to the ford dealer and they will show you where the paint code is and will be able to tell you what color it is in their books.
