After 7 years of thinking about it I have finally decided to pursue a career in Information Technology. I have come across what sounds to be a good IT training course with a good provider. I am ready to commit but still a little unsure. Is there anyone out there who could vouch for any particular IT training provider? Have you gained employment and how difficult was it finding your first IT job?

I will be totally honest and say "it doesn't matter".

Although any qualifications you gain will count for something (anything from a recognised major eg. CISCO, Microsoft MCSE etc) or Degree (B.Sc, BA.) will help, HOWEVER the SINGLE most important thing on your CV is how many years of Experience you have in the industry.

With (I assume) zero experience you will be loosing out to graduates with 2 years experience every time

I would suggest you try for a junior position with a major company that will invest in training you - or as an alternative, become a self-employed IT Consultant .. (and get your training a 50% discount by ringing up the training providers on the Friday before the course starts on the Monday)
