I just checked my mail and an insulting letter came in mail today. They talk about our lawn being unkept (it's not) a broken down car in our driveway (it's been there since Februrary) and how our house is a monstrosity to the neighborhood.
We didn't build this house. It was added on to by the man we're renting from three years ago. Instead of the standard 3 bdrms it has 6 so you can see how its an oddity in the neighborhood. We've been living here for a year.
What can we do about the letter? It was sent anonomously through the mail with no return address. Can the police get involved?

No our yard is not dirty or anything and this letter is a shock to my family and I. We're not noisy or nosy neighbors. We keep to ourselves. This is distressing.

Find the person who sent it and burn their house down.

Get rid of the car and give the letter to your landlord. Start keeping a journal with names, dates, etc. Document yourselves caring for the property to protect yourself from a potential lawsuit. Good luck.

Unless the letter was threatening in any way, there is little - if anything - the police can do.
Try to keep it for evidence if anymore appear. Which means, put it in a baggie; try not to muss up any fingerprints and DNA.
:)

I'm sorry about the intrusion on your privacy. I hope the person who did it will apologize! Try writing a reply to the letter and stick it in your mailbox. Address it to "My Over-Conscientious Neighbor." That way, if he or she tries to write you another insulting note, he'll get the letter and stop.

I would just ignore it and let it go. If I started getting lots more mail then I would get in touch with the police. Maybe then they could track it down

Try to blow it off, but keep an eye on your neighbors. If anymore come in the mail, report it to your landlord and the police....

Is your house the eyesore of the block? If so, clean it up. People have their entire life wrapped up in their home, and don't want one house to ruin the whole block.

I guess just ignore it. Some people are just angry and bored and need to take it out on others. Sorry your neighbour(s) suck.
