Devils fired another coach late in the season. This is the 2nd time I've seen them do this, but not this late in the season. Julien had a winning record, how does this help motivate a team with only a handful of games left in the season??

Lamoriello is the mad scientist of all hockey GMs. He has done this before....he fired Ftorek with 8 games remaining in the 99/00 season and replaced him with Robinson. It worked....they captured the cup even though Ftorek did a good job getting them ready Lamoriello didnt think he had them playing Cup caliber hockey. he says he feels the same way, nothing Julien did led to the decision more than what Lou believed as far as them being ready. He tried the same thing last season but it didnt work out so well....we'll see if things are different. So this makes it 3 times he has tried this, but this time I get the idea he knows they are finally getting healthy (Julien did a great job considering he worked with a lot of minor league talent because of the injuries). He is somewhat crazy....maybe crazy like a fox though...time will tell!

Dude, first of all, I'm a Flyers fan. I just wanted you to know so you don't think I'm partial, but what the hell is your general manager thinking? In my opinion, Lamoriello wanted to have the Devils play a certain, particular system or style of play in the play-offs and Julien disagreed with him, which caused his sudden dismissal. Why change something if it's working? If it isn't broke don't fix it, right? Any who, I think it was a poor decision. The Devils are a strong contender from the East. Julien coached the Devils well, and they're a defensive power house. I think this will cause a wave of confusion through the Devils, right before play-offs begin. I think it throws off any consistency and positive player/coach relationship Julien and the Devil player's may have had. Sorry bud, but I don't think Lamoriello should have done that. Especially when Julien did so well.

I am not really sure that Julien did anything. This is the second time that Lamoriello has fired someone. I agree, it won't help the Devils. In my opinion, it will discourage the team. I know it would me. How can you really prepare a hockey team for the Stanley Cup. You can't. They have to fight for it, and they know that. I don't understand his thinking. Someone needs to buy the franchise and FIRE him. What and idiot! It may have worked out for him before, but what if it blows up in his face this time.

Lou is crazy but it always seems to work for him.

I don't know how it motivates the players but when he fired Ftorek with only 8 games left they won the Cup.

More power to him.

One of these days it will come back to bite him when he does something like this but as long as the outcome is the Cup I say go for it.

The only sane reason I see for him doing this is Julien had to have been involved with the GM's wife or daughter or something. Besides that I see no logical explanation!!

I dont exactly understand this was about. The Devils are one of the best teams in the league. If the front office is upset at how close the Penguins are then they are mistaken. The Penguins are very good also.

It's crazy! There has to be more to this story. Julien must have done something.
