It's a "social" thing. When one person gets one- everyone wants one. Of course, a few years down the ROAD- when one person gets skin cancer, so does everybody ELSE! So you're right. -People who "follow the leader..."- get led astray.

People who don't understand tans usually live in places where they can't get one unless the pay 10dollars per session for it. Tan is better than pale. Its sexier. It hides those little blue veins. Tans are usually found on thinner people because it means that they are actually outside doing something instead of sitting in front of a computer or TV all day.

I never get why people try so hard to be tan. Most just end up orange, burnt, or with skin cancer. Our natural skin tone is set just like our hair and eye color for a reason. It complements us best.

Yes it does.. It's a prestigious thing though.. It use to be women who were pale were rich and women who had tans weren't. It's a "man" thing. Back in the day if you were wealthy all you did all day was lie around thus you were pale because you didn't work out side. Now it's the opposite. Now it's considered wealthy if you lay around in the sun all day and don't work. That's all....Just proper edict thees days

Tanning is REALLY bad for your skin. Sun just makes you wrinkle younger. I really don't see why people tan their skin either.

A tan gives you a glow that makes you seem healthy. Pale people tend to look sickly.

it`s just a personal preference to have it or not...i choose to have one, but i don`t try to force that on another person...they can decide for themselves whether they want to tan or not...
