I love this guy. He's a former POW and a hero. Being a veteran I totally respect him.

But currently he's taken the stance that Iraq is safer now since the surge? That he could walk down town alone without a problem?

Then he takes a fully armed platoon of soldiers. two black hawks and two gunships to go shopping in Bagdad? And he's wearing a bullet proof vest?

I know a politician needs some protection, but it totally ruins his position to use all the troops to go shopping.

I just hate to see him look so bad.

The fact is Iraq is on pace to totally shatter all records of deaths on both sides with this surge. That doesn't sound like its better does it?

Is McCain losing it?

PS. I am not trying to bash him or call out McCain supporters.

I'm asking the question because at one time I would have voted for him. He's paid a debt to the US that we'll never pay back. I just really feel bad for him.

The projected death numbers are from Tucker on MSN today. He's a republican right?

Ten people die in one place in America it's a major event. In Iraq it's breakfast. And everything is just fine...stop drinking the coolaid.

Well even though the surge isn't in full effect it is safer compared to numbers of people being killed in Iraq. In OCT 06 the death toll from Iraqis killed in Iraq since our invasion was 655,000 http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,,1892888,00.html that's an average of over 15,200 Iraqis being killed per month. Are the numbers anywhere near that now? Didn't think so. You guys pick and choose what statistics you want the world to see.

I think he lost it a while ago. His statement about walking alone in Baghdad seals it. DId he think no one would notice the armed guard, helicopter support and bullet proof vest? He's pathetic.

He has his opinion. How do we know the Iraq surge isn't working? Are you on the ground there? What is your definition of success, sunnis and shias walking through the streets of Baghdad holding hands and singing songs?

I couldn't have said it any better.
He has lost it, I guess his "protection" is now the new definition of safe.
It's a pity that ordinary Iraqis can't get that kind of protection for their daily stroll to the market place, school or mosque
