There is no good answer. What do you want? Do you want something lightweight and compact that you can use while jogging? The clip-on Shuffle is your top choice, but the Nano offers the largest capacity in a flash-based player. Do you have a massive music library that you want access to at all times? The 80GB iPod Video has the largest capacity of any pocketable player on the market (there are players with over 200GB, but they're the size of a paperback novel). Want to buy tracks from the largest single online music library, or not have to hear the annoying gap of silence between tracks? iPod. Want FM reception for when you just don't feel like listening to your own music? Don't buy an iPod. Want to make calls with your music player? Wait for the iPhone, as pretty much all music phones on the market right now have been criticized for cramming a low-quality/low-capacity player into a regular phone.

The point is, there is no one single player that will be all things to all people, because everyone has different tastes.

The Ipod still gets all the best reviews in it's various guises - though I don't like it myself - even compared to the ridiculously expensive mp3 players

i in my view think of that Zen creative and prescient:M is greater effective truly worth for each penny you spent. It has lots clearer reveal for video, greater ideal battery existence than iPod, and it comes with an FM radio. i know you probable won't use it even nevertheless it truly is often sturdy to correctly known that it truly is there once you prefer it. on the different hand, it could no longer seems as sturdy as iPod, and your finger prints might easily ran everywhere in the participant. in spite of everything, it relies upon on you to make the call, assemble as lots information and evaluate it is greater important to you. sturdy luck on your purchase! I wish you acquire the wonderful one for your self.

iPod is the obvious answer but Archos do a great, yet expensive, range of portable multimedia devices with giant capacity. If money was no object a big gigabyte video iPod or an Archos. Nice...

Zune.

It's got sharing capabilities, videos on a bigger screen, and unlimited downloads legally for $15 per month. You like the songs? buy them for less than 99 cents.

Everything iTunes/iPods do but more.

I'll have to agree with the person who said Archos. Whatever Apple does, and has a huge press conference about... chances are Archos has already done it only without the hype.
