A wife beater is a tank top worn by men. It's usually white - sometimes has a few stains or holes in it. A lot of guys who wear them have beer bellies. On the other hand, men who are body builders wear them often. Also, the stereotypical wife beater (abusive person) wears them. Hope that helps!

It is an undershirt, an A shirt....it is a mens undershirt...it is shaped like a tank top....a lot of men and boys wear them as a shirt..but formally they were only used as underwear. The name "wife-beater" comes from the old stereo type that the men who wore them (back in the day) were trashy...or less than classy...which also implied that they "beat" their "wives".

sounds like your "Wife Beater" is a sleeveless T shirt
as opposed to a muscle shirt. It's called a wife beater because there is a stereotype amongst men who are "the type" who beat their wives that entails the wearing of such a shirt.

I believe the name came from the prevelance of men wearing such garments when caught in domestic violence situations on the tv show Cops.

That is the slang term for a white sleeveless shirt, usually worn under dress shirts or t-shirts. Kinda like what you see 50 cent wearing all the time.
