Habit -- and some people don't like the Internet. For some, it's also a convenience factor: Not everyone has a laptop or constant access to the Web, but those people can carry around a paper.

Plus a lot of Internet reports can be slightly inaccurate, full of typos or not as in-depth as the printed version -- this is because the pressure to be the first to put the story online can lead to errors. The version you see in the printed version can be more accurate, which some see as an advantage.

Interestingly enough, more people are reading papers at night when they get home -- when they have time -- as opposed to first thing in the morning.

Additionally, not all newspaper's Web sites cover everything the print edition does. It's easier to get coupons, localized tidbits from the print version.

A lot of newspapers still aren't sure what to do with the Internet in terms of coverage, either. Until the two mediums -- print and online -- truly converge, online coverage is pretty limited. And few papers -- like people -- like change.

Also, some news organizations charge for Web access to stories, which turns off some readers.

Because a computer or a laptop costs thousand times more than a newspaper if only for news.

A newspaper is easy to carry around and can made use of in many other ways like whack a spider.

It's the freedom to read something whenever the reader wishes to by just flipping over the pages.

Only disadvantage is that there is not enough information in all the pages as compared the the mighty internet.

Newspapers are still totally portable, which the internet cannot yet match without costing a lot more.
My wife gets local coupons and sales. I get a hard copy of sports scores, stats and comics. The classifieds are still a significant media for jobs, things for sale, and diversions like crosswords, advice and movie times (again, all portable).
The web is good, you can get all that stuff there, and in 50 years, newspapers will be dead. When portable internet-connecting, reusable, and interactive tablets the size of newspapers are durable and affordable, the web will trump the newspaper once and for all. (Laptops are headed that way) For the present time, though, too many people are still used to that daily paper.

Actually, the newspaper industry has fallen on fledgling times because many people are getting their news on the web instead of newspaper. However some people still like to read the newspapers when they don't feel like dealing with electronic lighting of a computer, don't have access to the internet, etc..

I don't understand why anyone would want to deal with newspapers either. They have lots of disadvantages.

actually i don't know the exact reason... but i think it depends on our personalities and stuff... i'm doing a job in IT field . so 24 hours i'm living with the computer...but i don't like to read news which is on the internet,,, but sometimes i had to check through the internet because it takes less time to report than a news paper does.. i think reading a news paper is a coolest thing we can do when we got a free time... sometimes i feel free when i read a news paper coz i feel that i have a time to read even a news paper.. but if i check those news on the internet i felt "oh i don't even have such a time to read a news paper, that's why i have to read this news through the internet..."

I read two papers a day. I read the paper over my eggs and bacon - I like to read the paper during breakfast. I like to read the paper at my desk at work during lunch - I look at the damn computer all day long and it's nice to not have to stare at the box for a while. I carry my paper in my briefcase so if I am stuck on the train or waiting to see someone I can have something to do.

I like the general organization of the paper - I don't have to scroll here or open there, I just turn to the page I want.

I like doing the crossword puzzle and, lately, occasionally the sudoku (if it's not too tough).

I like to read the comics as comics not as computer images. I like all the baseball (yeah!) box scores together.

I like the longer commentary on the editorial pages.

I like to read the want ads.

I LOVE MY PAPER!

For the same reason people still read books in the traditional way, it's more comfortable and less harmful to your eyes...
It's very nice to seat on your favorite chair, in the porch, in a balcony, stretch your legs, drink your coffee and read your newspaper or book
