What the heck did you do to it? I'd say junk it and buy something else.

I cant see why your transmission would stop the car from starting. have you seen the car, is it shaking badly, and if so, try taking the plug out and turn it over, use a light and look inside, ensure the piston is moving freely. Then take a wooden rod and plcae it against the head, above that cylinder, listen for clear valve operation, ensure that the valve is not hitting the piston. If the above are ok, change all the plugs, redo the ignition, and replace that injector, I bet it will run like a dream.

Best of luck!

PS. Get a new mechanic.

Ask to see the old parts from the transmission and verify there was something wrong with it in the first place, then ask him to show you whats wrong with the motor. If he cannot produce the old parts I'd question whether or not there really was something wrong with the transmission. Also did he try replacing the spark plugs? A ruined plug will cause the car to run badly, but isn't necessarily indicative of any worse problems, you'd have to do a compression or leak down test to see if there was really a "major" problem.

If your car wouldn't start, and your mechanic told you that rebuilding the transmission would fix it, you need to get your money back from the mechanic and take the car somewhere else. The transmission has nothing to do with the engine starting. Get a lawyer.
