How long is a piece of string? Good question but it has no answer. After Budget the most important questions are location and intended use.

When you resolve those issues I would suggest a classic because they are 'eye-candy' and hold their value.

Egg Harbor is one of the best but you can also find custom built. My favorite so far was a 46' yacht built in 1896. It had documents to prove it was the first powered Private vessel in the U.K. and the first Paraffin (like kerosene or jet fuel) powered vessel in the world. It sold for about USD $30,000.

I would have bought it but I live in Singapore and with our heat and humidity would have killed it. Boats like that need cool dry environment.

www.boats.com is a good site to begin your search but also try, http://www.apolloduck.co.uk

Good Luck
