I am not sure about the first question but still after many years I don't see anyone touching the voice of Marvin Gaye or the songs he did.

There hasn't been a good R&B song since the 70s. It's not even the same genre anymore. They should call it "That genre of music where all the beats and harmonies are exactly the same"
