Let's see over 92% of the fricken world runs on the windows operating system, so if I wanted to be compatible with the fricken world that we live in I wouldn't take the mac.

i have had a dell before and i enjoyed the imac just because dell is notoriously known to use extremely cheap parts. Also if anyting goes wrong on youre mac you can go into a mac store and ask them how to fix what happened to youre computer. also it depends on the computer. if the imac is worth more than the imac i would choose the imac. Macs run windows also so wats the point

Free Dell = free headaches
Free iMac = Great deal!
Get the Mac. You won't be forced into a $200.00 system upgrade within 3 months.

i would choose the imac because you could always upgrade it yourself and you can have it to write up virus and you can have it as long as possible. i would not take the dell because you cant have it for more than 10 years no matter what the imac is the number one only its a lot more dearer but it worth it.

A new report out by computer repair and support company RESCUECOM suggests that Apple is maintaining its overall high reliability scores. In the report's rating system (where a larger number is better) Apple scored a 201, second only to IBM/Lenovo which scored 243. The next-best was HP/Compaq with a score of 12, and market leader Dell only had a score of 4. Negative scores were possible, as Gateway (-12) and other manufacturers (-16) demonstrated.

The smart choice would be the IMac. It is of course a better machine. But even if you were dumb and liked PCs, its a higher ticket item. Get the Mac, sell it and buy 3 of your inferior machines.
;)
Ok, I have to comment. I just read some other the other peoples answers and have to comment on your stupidity. 1st, Imacs can run windows Mr.X....Id hide my name too if I was that dumb. And to the girl who said macs arent dependable...you obviosly dont have one. They hardly ever shut down, have to be restarted or have auto quit problems. Macs also do not get the thousands on viruses your pcs do.

Dell I think. It's extensible and I prefer black over white box coloring. Of course, Macs are very beautiful and very slim, but Dell would probably be a little better in the area of compatibility.

what a load of tosh you people speak
The imac is vastly superior - and reliability is second to none
(I have both Mac & PC ) and do i.t. support for both 1 get 50 calls to PC and about 1 to mac (I have a similar amount of each platform on my books)
imac + Parallels Software = Multi platform machine OSX / XP / Vista/ Linux all on the same machine - No Contest
