9:20 ET? That's ridiculous. It's not a problem for me but I'm just thinking ratings wise. I know that you have to factor in the West Coast but still. Is it because it's on a weeknight and they want to make sure that as few people are working as possible? I would still choose an 8:00 ET start, then it's only 5:00 PT. That way, the game won't end past 11:30 and people won't be going to bed early if the game turns out to be bad.

It's definitely not an issue for me. I'm lucky whenever I can fall asleep before midnight, whether I need to or not. I'm just thinking from a ratings point of view, knowing that many people with regular 9-5's on the East coast will turn the game off early if it isn't that good and will generally be less interested in watching it because of the late start. But I do suppose that although the east coast market is much greater, they still make up for it by the later west coast start.

You just answered your own question. Most people in 5:00 PT arent home from work yet or are just settling in. Everyone in the country will be ready by 9:20 ET!

I think it's ridiculous to make the kids play at that time. Not to mention the fans that are there at the game, and the students of both schools who have school tomorrow folks (life does continue), all so a few people in the west coast who MIGHT be interested in the game can sit and watch IF they make it home through the traffic madness in time for the tip off.
I say it needs to be final 4 on fri/champ on Sunday or thurs final 4 and champ Saturday. This Monday garbage is just stupid.
That said, Go Gators.

I basically agree, but we do have to consider the West Coast - a 6.20 start time will allow lots more folks to see the game. Monday Night Football with their late start always was a pain for us in North Carolina - that was an after midnight finish.
So, I guess the advice is to drink some coffee, get on your jammies and hop into bed when the final whistle blows. (Actually that pretty much sums up my plans!).

Yes - i think it's b/c of getting the West Coast onboard with the game, though it does seem late.
Even the SuperBowl starts about an hour earlier. Of course, it's played on a Sunday.

Friday night and Sunday would be better. Championship game a 3pm. Being the finals the early time
should not be a problem, why, because it is the Finals.

It is done so that they can have more viewers and generate more ad money.
This gives the guys on the West coast a chance ot get home and grab a beer and let the games begin.
That's really the reason for it.

I agree 9:20 is really! late to start the game. When you think about it both of the teams playing are in the same time zone so wouldn't you think they would cater towards the fans more? I know there are some fans of florida and osu in PT but your gonna get more viewers from the areas where the teams are from...

They think that is "prime time" but... you have to factor in the west coast and the "best" time for people to watch it. I don't have to worry about it I'm on Spring Break and don't have to get up tomorrow
