ESPN is nothing but a bunch of blowhards. As the previous poster said, they only care about the east coast teams, and St. Louis. In 2005, they gave the Sox very little publicity despite having the best record in baseball. Well, Detroit experienced the same thing last year.
As picking the tigers this year over the sox. Don't get me wrong, i'm a life long Sox fan, but Detroit's pitching is much better than the Sox. So frustrating. Buehrle, I've never cared for him because he doesn't have alot of stuff. I feel like he's done. His change up is just not that much slower than his fastball. So I wasn't surprised that he got rocked often and consistently last season. We lost a workhorse in Freddy Garcia, thats gonna hurt. Contreras got rocked today and if you remember, he struggled in the second half of last season. Hope today was not a sign of things to come. Garland, man, I don't know what to think of him. He's great one half, then disappears the next. Vasquez is good for 3-4 innings before he begans to give up runs in bunches. Never understood how he can strike out 12 batters, then give up 4 runs to the next 4 batters. Drives me batty. And now you've got an unproven rookie in Danks taking the #5 spot. Hopefully he breaks out this year. The pitching on this team is just too unpredictable to think they will take the division. Especially a division that is so strong. You have have 4 contenders, thats just the way it is. Regardless of how this season turns out, just be thankful you're not a cubs fan. Sox for life.

I dont think anyone is underestimating them, they are being realistic about the state of the team. They dealt away the best part of their staff, Buerhle has been so grossly overworked (led the majors in inning pitched 2 years in a row...it showed last season) and they have the most volatile manager in the game. Guillen was the burst of energy they needed a couple years ago but lets face it, his act has worn extremely thin with the players. Unless they find a solution for the pitching problems they have and Guillen changes his attitude I am afraid it will be a long season for Sox fans. Not disrespecting them in any way but the fact is they have problems that arent being addressed and the rest of the baseball world knows it. Watch teams goad Guillen from the field, they know they can get in his head and take the team off thier game....my money is on him as the 1st manager fired this year (especially if they get rocked like they did today a few times early on).

Not everyone is picking the Tiogers over the Sox.I have been a Sox fan probably longer than you have been alive and I don't think that barring a trade for pitching, the Sox are going anywhere.Garland is as inconsistent as they come,Contreras is 4-9 since last year's all-star break,Buerhle was sub-.500 last year and didn't have a good spring. They traded Freddy Garcia for minor leaguers.Let's be realistic, their pitching is questionable and that is why they are getting no respect.Kenny Williams needs to trade for someone who can win on a regular basis.

The White Sox are rubbish. AJ Pierzynski is a thong-wearing homo who catches so he gets a stable seem at each and every hitter's kit whilst they're status interior the container. Juan Uribe is a no-skills hack who showboats whilst he pops out via fact he does not hit adequate domicile runs to make himself experience examined on the top of the twelve months. Bobby Jenks ought to heavily be counseled regardless of the shown fact that. with the help of effectively balancing careers as a professional baseball participant and plus-sized type on an analogous time as nevertheless looking time to steer the biggest leagues in blown saves he shows the authentic heart on the middle of the White Sox. Orlando Cabrera. the appropriate addition to the White Sox for 2008. the only factor conserving them out of the playoffs final twelve months, as properly their record, became the absence of a noisy-mouthed very easy shortstop. consistent with probability his addition will ultimately deliver the White Sox lower back to the international series so as that they'd take a dive and make some money. Ozzie Guillen is a hack. consistent with probability the only factor worse than his english are his managerial skills. He belongs lower back in Venezuela the place he may well be the mayor for a city of three households and 6 donkeys. consistent with probability he can cope with them out of economic oppression via fact Lord is conscious he could no longer tutor them the thank you to play baseball. pass Tigers.

Because they are the White Sux, one championship does not make them a contender every year.
