pads or tampons?

i currently use pads and have never tried a tampon. what age should i try it at, or should i try it at all?

It depends on preference. I don't have an opinion for age, I started using them at 14, but I was a highly active girl. Tampons make it easier for sports, and no bulky panty lines as well. Some people may have problems with them though. The trick is to using a strength based on your flow. I prefer the Playtex gentle glide multi-pack. You can get 3 different strengths without having to buy 3 different packs every month.

tampons are 100 times better than pads, you will still use pads on your light days and at night, but it's during your heavy days that pads are the MOST annoying anyway, and tampons are a godsend.

I would say any age is alright as long as your period is pretty regular and you've had it for a few months and have a pretty good idea what to expect on what days.

EDIT: What I meant was tampons are better than pads! LOL, I had to go back and change that... I don't know why I put pads are beter than tampons first...

You can try tampons at any time, just use slim ones or the ones specifically for vigins. I would reccommend Libra as they have a cover over the cotton wool that makes them smoother, easier to insert and remove, comfy and safer due to the reduced risk of tampon breakage.
If you want you can even put a lubricant on the tampon and this will make it go in easier. Use something like KY jelly or vaseline.
I would choose tampons any day : less mess and staining, easier to hide in your bag,and way more comfortable,.
Just make sure you never leave it in for more than 8 hours at the most or you can get Toxic Shock Syndrome, which can be fatal.
But honestly, try tampons, they are much better.

I didn't start using tampons til after I was 18 years old.

As for which I prefer I now prefer pads. I had to stop using tampons due to medical issues unrelated to the tampon itself.

As for what is a good age for a girl to wear tampons, that's something that she needs to discuss with her mom because each mom is different.

I prefer pads because my period can get heavy. I didn't use tampons for years and years, and only use them now occasionally

Don't be afraid to try it, contact your Dr. if you want more information on how to use a tampon or if you want to know the advantages versus the disadvantages. I started using tampons when I was fourteen and have never had a problem with them, just be sure to use good hygeine.

I seriously prefer tampons....
they mean it when they say you can't feel them (if they're in right). I've been using them from the beginning so I say try them now! :) Try using "lites" first as they are smaller and will help you get used to them.
You are growing up, you shouldn't have to wear a diaper! Get rid of those bulky pads...yuck!
(sorry if I sounded like a commercial... totally true!)

i prefer tampons, mainly because i am a gymnast. to me, they are much cleaner. but i do wear pads to sleep. there really is no age to use a tampon, but you should definately wait until your period is regular- maybe a year or two after you have started. if you are going to use one, make sure you dont leave it in too long, or youll get TSS. which is something you definately dont want!
