Oil didn't start it. Our brave soldiers keep fighting for us. They support us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B17RwNxowg

The war was 'started' because Bush claimed that Saddham was violating the UN decree that he posess no WMDs.
None were found. Are our intelligence services that bad? I would hope not. And nothing about WMD transfers to Saddhams allies were found. So where are they?

The war continues because it is said that if we pull out, it will be very, very, bad. Will it? Will the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other in a bloodbath? Or will they make dividing lines between each other? And if they make a bloodbath, what countries (Iran and Saudi Arabia) will fight?

The reason about 'getting rid of an evil dictator' is completely false. If that were the case, then the US should have a large hand in the Darfur crisis. Currently 200,000 people have died, millions are displaced, and it threatens to throw the whole region into war.
So then the question is, why are we not helping out in Darfur?

Well, one big difference between the two is that Darfur doesn't have nearly as much oil as Iraq does...

Although oil MAY have been a factor in the Iraq war it was not the only one. In my opinion there were several factors, some that were legitimate and some that were not that caused us to go to Iraq. If oil was one, it is not hard to see why. Since Dick Cheney is the VP he can have a LOT of control of what happens in Iraq, and due to his connections with Halliburton it looks as if he may have wanted to go into Iraq to establish an oil monopoly for them and get a pay off himself. Now I am not saying that I believe this, but there is some mildly intriguing evidence to support this claim. As for keeping the war going, I do not see how it could take precedence over getting our troops back home, but who knows.

Executive branch of US= George W. Bush oil man and Dick Cheney head of a company that serves oil drilling operations.

We have oil stored in our strategic reserves but not enough, we are told, to put into America's cars and furnices. So we buy oil from other countries. One of those countries is Iraq. Iraq sits on the second largest pool of oil on Earth. Whoever controls that pool of oil has a great deal of power over what the world pays for oil, how much is available, and who can and cannot buy oil from them.

If someone were to decide to become emperor of much of the world it would make sense that he would want to control a large chunk of the world's oil supply. Iraq oil + US oil = a hellova lot of oil.

How's my luck? You are probably already made up your mind but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Saddam was threatening to drop the petrodollar and was in the process of doing it when Iraq was invaded (thus the first order of business after the bombing was restore the dollar).

The whole oil game is to be able to possess the oil in order to shut it OFF and control the price and the trading mechanism used.

Iran, for 2 years now, has been threatening to drop the petrodollar. Ever since they announced that, they have been demonized as "terrorist who must be invaded" by the Bush administration (the very same tactic Bush used to sell the Iraq war- false pretexts- lies- fixed intelligence ect. are being used to sell this one). The reason for the false justification for invading these oil rich countries who are threatening to "not play the game" is because it would be too unethical for the US government to ask Joe Sixpack and Sally Soccermom to support a war for petrodollar hegemony so the old stand-by of "fear" is used.

Without Oil our nation crashes. Iraq has the 3rd largest oil reserves in the world. Simple!

Let's see...

Iraq has the 2nd largest proven (crude oil) reserves of any nation.

The ports of Basra and Um Qasar are highly important tanker ports in the Persian Gulf.

Iraq provides a unique base of operations for naval patrols of the Euphrates Delta, thus allowing patrol of oil shipping lanes that are directly adjacent to Iran.

Access to crude oil is our number two foreign policy priority, second only to nuclear arms reducution/control. Iraq provides an opportunity to secure crude oil from the Middle East via the Persian Gulf and via Turkey (pipelines) fro the next 30-40 years.

If you don't understand any of this, it is simply a matter of your naivete. Our economy is extremely dependent on crude oil in order to function. That is just reality.

oil is, well the "oil" of our economic machine. it really does keep our industrial and consumer lives moving and cheaply.
oil is also a limited resource buried underground. the past decade has seen a rise of China and India. particularly with China, they also need cheap oil, just as we and most other first world nations.
the largest supply of the sweet crude that is easy to pull out of the ground remains in Iraq. if we don't secure that oil and oversee its dispursement, the result could get quite nasty. our entire economy would fall into chaos and China would become the worlds premier economic superpower.

I thought Dick Cheney and his buddies over at Halliburton making money off of "rebuilding" Iraq were keeping the fighting going. The Iraqis set all the oil wells on fire back in '91, remember?

China's economy is exploding. Peak oil is real. There is only so much oil left. If you control that oil you control the world.

The war was and is about oil. Plain and simple.

Just ask yourself one question. Why are we cramming this new oil law down the Iraqies throats. The one which will essentially give control of the Iraqie oil to American companies who right now only control about 12% of the proven reserves.

I love these lunatics who buy the party line.
